Hope, healing, and a plan to back it up.
Survivor, advocate, hospitality investment consultant, single mom and occasional rapper. This is how Candice became the one who walks in light and leads others to it.
She wouldn't leave Linus behind. So she built a way for no one else to have to.Why Candice gets it
When Candice left an abusive relationship, she was told her pets couldn't come with her to the shelter. She wouldn't leave Linus, her bulldog of more than ten years and her comfort through the hardest season of her life.
So she found another way. With support from Alexandra House, including therapy and help with the legal steps, she rebuilt her life with her son and her pets beside her.
That experience never left her. In 2022 she started researching pet-safe shelter rooms. By January 2025, Linus' Pet Haven was open, and survivors at Alexandra House could finally bring their pets with them.
From survivor to advocate.
